      Passing this along. I'm considering two of them. It's a drive, but cost to get in isn't much, and Charleston is beautiful. Plenty else to do besides, to make it a worthwhile trip. :)

      Greetings Home Schooler,
      The Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston has set aside the first Friday of every month just for home school students to visit the museum! Registration is required no less than a week in advance. Kindergarten - 12th graders are $5. Parents are free of charge. Tours will begin at 10:00am when the museum opens. Call 843.722.2706 x41 or email rsailor@... to get on our calendar.

      The schedule is as follows:

      January 6th, 2012, Special Exhibitions Tour, Camera Works: Masters in Photography and Breaking Down Barriers: 300 Years of Women in Art.

      February 3rd, 2012, American Identity Tour, Explore the evolution of the American identity using the permanent collection

      March 2nd, 2012, Art Elements Tour, Tour the museum from an artist's perspective

      April 6th, 2012, Faces Tour, Explore the characteristics and language of portraiture

      May 4th, 2012, In Response Tour, Students will choose an artwork that will become inspiration for a writing project
