Martin is a member of several Yahoo! group Lists. Besides the 4L List,
he also on the West Side Lumber Co. List:
and the Pickering Lumber Co. List:
With all this "Grouply" stuff trying to raise hell, I am very reluctant
to post Martin's e-mail address here.
He's an attorney in Bend, Oregon, and is often the weekend engineer of
the Mt. Emily Lumber Co. 3 truck Shay which is owned by the City of
Prineville in Oregon (east of Bend). For those of you in the eastern
US, that Shay was on loan for years at the Cass Scenic Ry. in West
Martin once told me that his collection numbers 500,000 to 600,000
prints and negatives. He has no list of them, as far as I know.
Buyers tell him what type of subjects, including railroad names, etc.,
which they want and he chooses from there.
I have sent a copy of your message directly to Martin and asked him to
reply to you directly off-List. Hopefully, you'll get an answer
quickly. Martin usually is good about timely replies.
BTW, I know that at least some of Bert Ward's collection was sold
publicly at the Stockton Railroadiana show about ten years or so ago.
His daughter, a Private Investigator by profession, was selling it to
raise money to pay for estate taxes. I bought some of Bert's photos
from her but nothing related to what you are looking for. Martin may
have been at that same show (I'm not sure after all this time) and
taken the balance of the collection off her hands.
See you all at the Portland (Oregon) Convention?
Best regards, Hart Corbett

Thanks to those who helped me get in contact with Jim Ehernberger. Jim
does not have the Ted Wurm Photo I have been searching for. The Photo
was in the Collection of Bert Ward in 1979. Jim believes that a
gentleman named Martin Hansen of Bend, Oregon, is now in possession of
the Ward collection. Does anyone know how to contact Mr. Hansen?
Thanks in advance,
DON Bergman >>>
