- Jan 3, 2018Rudi, Here is the details of the Barry mount from McMaster Carr.I use six of the lightest mounts plus spacers to accommodate the 1/4" aluminum plate used to mount the engine. It's that minimum thickness of .38 (roughly 10 mm) that makes the spacer necessary.Rick GirardOn Wed, Jan 3, 2018 at 3:16 AM, greylingr@... Now for the question for the guys with experience: Why don't you just mount these Barry mounts direct to the engine bolt positions and then sandwich the aircraft mount structure between them?In most of the mount pictures, I have seen it is the other way around...See attached reference to Greensky Document downloaded from the group files. Most people usually mount some kind of load distribution plate directly to the engine bolt position, then offset the Barry mounts wider, and then only mount it to the aircraft mount structure.Doesn't this create unnecessary weight and complexity? or is there a useful reason for bolting the plate directly first to the engine?PS: What do you guys use Medium or Hard Barry mounts?Thank you in advance,
Kind Regards
