Though here at journey's end I lie
      In darkness buried deep,
Beyond all towers strong and high,
      Beyond all mountains steep,
Above all shadows rides the Sun
      And Stars forever dwell:
I will not say the Day is done,
      Nor bid the Stars farewell.

      - "Journey's End" by J.R.R. Tolkien

A fellow Tolkien enthusiast and author here at HASA, Kielle, also
known as Redpanda, has died after a short battle with cancer on
      September 22.

She was one of the first authors who joined HASA, shortly after the
site was launched. Eighteen of her stories are archived in HASA's
public archive. She logged in at HASA for the last time in April this

If you wish to leave your condolences, you can you can do so at her
      LiveJournal: "Kielle's Journal",

To bid Kielle (10-22-72 ~ 09-22-05) a last farewell, we would like to
ask you to take the time and look at the stories she left us, and
      maybe read one or two.

      1. "Southern Crown: Cat's Cradle":

Diplomacy in Umbar -- a future king meets a former queen, and the true
royal bloodline of Numenor is kept secret. Set in the last year of the
      reign of Tarannon Falastur.

      2. "Green Seas":

When Thengel was forced to return to Rohan to take the throne, perhaps
his son was not willing either... A tale of Theoden, Imrahil, and
      Finduilas in Dol Amroth.

      3. "Rekindled":

Helm Hammerhand's nephew Frealaf has bloodily reclaimed Edoras by
slaying the usurper Wulf, but one task remains... A brief bittersweet
tale of Rohan, set just after the only time the people of the Mark
      were ever routed by invaders.

      4. "Inheritance":

Sometimes the king's son is not the best man for the throne... A tale
of ancient Gondor -- specifically of Hyarmendacil and his young
great-grandson Minalcar, with guest appearances by Narmacil &
Calmacil. Who weren't very good kings in their (brief) day, and it

      5. "Southern Crown: Skadi In Shadow":

Queen Beruthiel, not long arrived in Osgiliath and none too happy,
reflects on her impressions of Gondor, and discovers her cats really
*are* trying to tell her something.

      6. "Southern Crown: Unbroken":

Long barren years have destroyed what little love lay between Tarannon
and Beruthiel. The infamous ending, with a twist: a secret that could
      dethrone Isildur's Heir...

      7. "Nine Men And A Little Lady":

An insidious evil infiltrates the Fellowship. Her name...is Mary Sue!
Told via the Fellowship's diaries, this should be shudderingly
familiar if you love Tolkien and hate bad fic.

Mithril Awards 2003 - Finalist - Best humour or parody

      8. "Chasing The Moon":

Eomer and Boromir set out on a dangerous journey to seek Rivendell.
This sequel to "Singing In The Sun" (already archived at HASA) is an
      A/U set just before FOTR.

Mithril Awards 2003 - Finalist - Best story focusing on Men

      9. "Seven For A Secret":

Who was to blame for the fall of the House of Feanor? Nerdanel has a
      decidedly different opinion...

      10. "Weregild":

Seduced by a sparkly piece of jewelry? Hardly. Isildur son of Elendil
has his own reasons for keeping the One Ring... Vignette/moodpiece.

      11. "High Places":

The fall of Gondolin, as seen from a child's point of view.

      12. "Wreath Of Steel And Silver":

What if the hand that nurtures Lothlorien once wielded a blade in the
darkest chapter of elven history...? Galadriel seeks forgiveness for
her part in the Kinslaying at Alqualonde.

      13. "Refraction":

History tells us that Boromir and Faramir's mother "pined away for the
sea." History, however, is easily distorted...and Denethor is very
      good at keeping ugly secrets.

      14. "Cast Away":

As they prepare to set sail for the undying lands, Legolas and Gimli
encounter a tragic remnant of an older age...

      15. "Singing In The Sun":

Boromir seeks the lost road to Rivendell...and finds a new friend in
      Eomer of Rohan. Minor A/U.

      16. "Blood and Warm Blankets":

Trapped in a cave by the rain, Eomer and Faramir realise they are
cornered by every cliche in the slash manual...

      17. "Grey And Pale Gold":

As Theodwyn lies dying, the royal family of Rohan comes to terms with
      grief and loss.

      18. "Red Day Rising":

Eomer broods on Theodred's death while hunting orcs in Fangorn's
shadow. A blend of introspection and action set before the Fellowship

      Thank you.
