The October meeting for the Northeast Louisiana Film & Video
Association/Monroe Film Meetup is scheduled for next Tuesday, October,
9th at 5:30 PM at the West Monroe Convention Center. If you have never
attended one of these meetings before, you will definitely want to
attend this month because of the exciting guest speaker!

Actor Ed Nelson is the guest this month. He has appeared in numerous
television shows, more than 50 motion pictures, and hundreds of stage
productions. His early television career featured many guest star roles
in the great westerns of the '60s and '70s such as "Gunsmoke," and
"Bonanza." In 1964 he won his most famous role portraying Dr. Michael
Rossi on the drama Peyton Place
      <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peyton_Place_%28TV_series%29> , which ran
      from 1964 <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964> to 1969
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1969> . After Peyton Place ended, Nelson
worked in many more productions of all varieties, including starring
role in many movies of the week, a second TV series, "The Silent Force,"
and a popular morning talk show which he hosted for three years. Soon
after, Nelson struck gold with his critically-acclaimed portrayal of
elusive pit crew chief Robert Denby in the hit film Riding with Death

earning him several prestigious accolades and legions of devoted fans.
He portrayed a dangerous imposter in the adventure movie For the Love of
      Benji <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/For_the_Love_of_Benji> (1977)
During the 80s, Nelson took on the role of Senator Mark Denning in the
      daytime soap Capitol
      <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitol_%28TV_series%29> . Nelson is
originally from New Orleans and now makes his home in Northeast
Louisiana. He will talk about how he got started in the business and
offer tips to aspiring actors as he shares stories from his prestigious
      film career.

As always, the meeting begins with networking at 5:30, state-wide
production announcements at 6:00 and our guest speaker at 6:30. Hope to
see you next Tuesday. The meeting is free and open to the public. Anyone
interested in working in the film industry as either actor or crew is
encouraged to attendÂ… as well as independent filmmakers and
potential vendors of services and supplies to the film industry.
