Re: 1st year plants started great, seem stressed now
I think the garden center guy is right. I had a similar issue with the leaf color and growth stoppage on my first year cascades. I sprinkled some lawn fertilizer into the soil around where the hops were planted (30-0-3). A week later the color was back to a dark green and the growth had resumed.

Hi, this is my first year growing (Centennial) hops. They started just great growing about an inch a day, maybe more. I pinched off the smaller bines and the main ones (two rhizomes, two bines kept) were thriving until a couple weeks ago. Now I am facing:
- some sort of mites which I sprayed a few days ago
- plants stopped growing (almost anyway)
- leaf color changed from healthy looking medium/dark green to a lighter yellow/green
I talked to a garden center guy yesterday who recommended a name brand slow release general plant fertilizer...any other suggestions on all this?
