  • Thanks for all your help and emails. The LMS site had a name of a guy that repairs the boards. So I sent it all to him. Sounds like I should keep a spare board or learn to replace the broken parts. Can I buy a spare board someplace? Thanks, Tom

  • I bought my mini mill new from HF about since months ago. I use it almost daily and have had no problems with it. Today it died while in use. I had a spare fuse so I switched it out. The new fuse blow out right away. I don't even hear the fan running. Can someone tell me where to start to trouble shoot? I can't be the first person this happened to. Any help will be greatly...

  • Hi all. From my posts you can see I'm new to machining metal. I've now bought a mini lathe and mill, cleaned and adjusted both and have started making chips. When my grandfather died he left me machinist tools I have no idea what they are. I'm looking for someone to email pictures to so they can id these tools. Also give me hints about what metals to use for different projects. If...

  • So I got my new mill. My son and I took it all apart, washed it in the parts washer, and put it back together. I have to say it runs great after being cleaned and adjusted. But soon after I crushed the tip of my index finger with a laceration to the bone. I'm friends with my doctor and he banned me from the shop fearing dirt in the laceration, infection of the crushed bone and...

  • Thanks everyone. You were right. The feed lever was stuck. Once I saw the crown gears someone mentioned I knew that was it. They were stuck so bad I had to use a miniture pry bar to get them to let go. This weekend I'll take it apart, run it in the parts washer and hopefully start using it. I know my lathe was a different machine once it was cleaned and tuned. Thanks, Tom

  • That's a great idea! I think I have a 3/8" chuck in my grandfathers tool box. I have a HF lathe also so I should be able to make the shaft. As long as I thread it straight. I live in the mountains near Asheville NC.

  • I unpacked my mill this morning and found the drill chuck in the packing. But I like the idea of a 3/8" drill chuck with a 3/8" straight shaft. Now here's my problem. I can't get the head to move up and down. I've losened everything I see and it still won't move. Is there some kind of shipping lock? I even losened the gib set screws thinking the gib was stuck. I hope I get this...

  • It only took 1 week of shipping. I was suprised at that. And it's not pasted in grease like my lathe was. Now I have a couple of questions. I bought R8 collet in the 3/8 size. Mainly because my grandfather left me a few 3/8 shaft end mills. If I want to drill hole I'll have remove that collet and replace it with the original one to allow the installation of the drill chuck, correct...

  • I called both HF stores near me and neither had a mill. So I had to order it online. So I guess it will be 3 weeks beforeI get it. Kinda disapointing.
