      No it is not - vise is the correct term (unless you live in the USA, where in an enthusiastic attempt to show Independence, it is traditional to spell a number of words incorrectly).

      Other well known examples:

      American spelling:
      Aluminum
      British spelling:
      Aluminium

      American spelling:
      Color
      British spelling:
      Colour

      American spelling:
      Pint and a quarter
      British spelling:
      Pint

      American spelling:
      America
      British spelling:
      The Colonies
