Regarding Dean, the ETU, and others

Alas, yet again it has become clear that there is clearly no longer any
place in the ALP for blokes like Dean Mighell, and his ETU comrades to take
an active role in shaping australia's future. The events of 1983-4 when the
Hawke Government attacked both the BLF and the pilots show this. These
fearless defenders of workers' rights, such as Dean and Craig Johnston, are
forever attacked not just by biz, biz media, or the 'conservatives' but by
Labor party politicans the country over. The ALP now belongs to men in suits
with lawyer degrees, foreign affairs postings, business experience, high
profile journos etc. I am sure, however, that there is room for them in
Socialist Alliance, and anyone else who trembles against the injustice in
the world, those who want to fight for the rights of workers, students,
migrants (including refugees), gays, Kooris, disabled, unemployed, peace,
and who believe that something must be done to reverse the increasied global
impact that resulted from the devastation of the soils, water, fauna and
flora by capitalists over the last century of so.
