Group Description

Grand Avenue Business Association. Oakland, California. Stores and businesses in the Grand Avenue district north of 580.

GABA is composed of merchants who volunteer to help organize events to bring more shoppers to the Grand Avenue merchant district. Events include National Night Out in August and the Proud Parents Stroll on the day before Mothers Day.

GABA merchants also work together to keep our avenue clean and safe. We look out for one another and report suspicious activities. We clean our sidewalks, maintain plantings in front of our stores and beautify the district with attractive signage.

Recently, the City of Oakland Marketing Department installed new banners on the streetposts, as you can see to the right.

Camino Restaurant at 3917 Grand Ave is one of the newer businesses on Grand, owned by Chez Panisse alum, Russell Moore. Here is a SF Chron review: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/08/10/LV7E120ML3.DTL

Grand Avenue has a wide array of stores, from upscale to funky. The diversity of products and services reflects the many cultures that make Oakland unique. Unlike nearby Lakeshore Ave., Grand is composed almost entirely of locally-owned, independent businesses. When you shop local and indie you help the local economy grow. GABA is dedicated to preserving the Main Street feel of our shopping district, and we invite you to join GABA and help keep our district exciting and vibrant.
