Hello Steve W,
Thanks for this information, it is important for people to know about this.
I earlier mentioned Eckankar, because they base their religion and
'Westernised' version upon these teachings and others. And if you
thought Scientology or Jehovah's Witnesses are tenacious in recruiting then
don't let an initiate of Eckankar get hold of you :) Be afraid be very
afraid...lol. No but seriously....nyet!
Hi again. One thing which I do appreciate about Samkya is that
discursive intellect is identified with Prakriti rather than with
Purusha. While I personally do not experience any ultimate 'split' or
dualism in the Such-As-It-Is, still, I understand that at a certain
level this dualistic thinking pertains as a manner of speaking. In
the West, mystics have too often, IMO, identified intellect with
Spirit. Samkya stresses that what we call our ordinary mind is really
just part of Prakriti or conditioned Matter. As such, it is under the
sway of "karma" or conditioned cause-and-effect. Many historical
schools of gnosticism seem to have remained at this dualistic level,
at least as revealed in the documents that we have. Ultimately, IME,
we trancend all dualisms which are part of the Dreaming, including
the dualism of Matter and Spirit. -Steve W.
