Group Description

(Revised June 1, 2013)   "FOR THE HISTORY OF THE FUTURE":   Welcome to the Geotrees e-mail group and message forum, since March 2001 the flagship group for Geotrees.Com, or "the Tree."    Here we share news, notes and knowledge that increase our understanding of the cultures and histories of others, and that help build community, culture, and civilization generally.

We especially welcome those voices that are often unfamiliar, misunderstood, unconventional, marginalized, or otherwise not sufficiently visible on the public stage.

AREAS OF INTEREST include education, the arts, diplomacy, youth leadership formation, travel, faith and interfaith, culture and interculture, history, bridgebuilding, reconciliation, philosophy, expatriates, empowerment, journalism, and literature - indeed, just about any realm of interest and activity that helps express, explore and enhance the best that human life has to offer.

REGIONAL, AND BEYOND:   We primarily serve the Washington, DC area, but anyone may participate.  We are nonpartisan, independent, noncommercial, free of charge, and completely volunteer; we accept no outside funding.  The membership list is not shared with other parties.

OPEN E-MAIL ARCHIVES:   Anyone is welcome to read the list's messages at any time, while members receive their 'mails automatically.

OPEN POSTING:   Members and nonmembers alike may post to the group. Simply send your message to: geotrees@yahoogroups.com.  The group accepts attachments, but they are not stored in the archives.  Geotrees remains "moderated, but not censored" for good will, good faith, good taste, good sense, and relevance.

SEE THE HOME PAGE:   Visit the home page at http://www.geotrees.com/, and let us know any time how it can serve and support you "for the history of the future."
