The Geosciences Department (Fachbereich 5) at Bremen University, Germany,
      seeks an applicant for a

PhD position in Marine Geophysics/ Marine Geology
      Salary BAT IIa/2

The maximal funding period is three years.

The positions is part of the ‘Research Center Ocean Margins’ (Subproject
C3: Sedimentation processes and sedimentary budgets along the ocean margin
off Chile): The applicant shall evaluate seismic and digital echosounding
data from selected sedimentary settings along the Chilean margin. These
data will be used to describe sub-sea-floor structures as well as to
estimate the volume of individual sediment units in order to contribute to
the quantitative assessment of the sedimentary budget. Some data are
already available, other data will be collected during the project.

Additional positions with similar topics in the area of marine seismics,
sediment echosounding, or databank management are expected to be funded soon.

      Requirements:
Degree in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences, Physics or Mathematics
Preferably experience in one of the following fields: digital sediment
echosounding, seismic data processing, seismic data interpretation,
      structural geology, sedimentology
Willingness to participate in ship expeditions

The university aspires to increase the proportion of women active in
scientific fields, and therefore expressly encourages qualified women to apply.
