      1. New Releases at Family Search; Ancestry Announcements

      ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Subject: New Releases at Family Search; Ancestry Announcements

This week the National Genealogical Society (NGS) held its annual meeting in

Salt Lake City. There were several announcements that would be of interest
      to you:

FamilySearch announced it will release records containing 300 million names
that can be researched on line. The records include information from
birth, marriage and death records, census records, census lists, migration
and naturalization records and family trees that were submitted to Family
Search, and more. I tried searching several of my family names to see what

comes up and for example it would have the person's name , the record
collection, ( I tried only a surname search so I could see all with the
surname.) and information culled from the record(s).
The database is still on a temporary website and may be accessed at:
      http://fsbeta.familysearch.org/

      Ancestry.com announced:

1.Ancestry will be offering for sale a MAC version of Family Tree Maker 2010

      later this year.

      2. Earlier this year Ancestry sold its book business to another publisher.
However, two of their prized resource books, The Source and Red Book:
American State, County and Town Sources will be scanned and placed on the
Internet in a Wiki. This way the resources may be updated regularly. The
Ancestry.com Wiki is a new section on Ancestry.com available to subscribers
and non-subscribers alike. It may be located at: www.ancestry.com/wiki.
