      Kristin Laura Kreuk
       (born December 30, 1982)
      is an actress and producer, knownfor her portrayal
      of LanaLang in the American television series Smallville. 
      She was also a regular cast member on the Canadian 
      teen drama Edgemont,and has starred in movies such
      as Eurotrip and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.


       

      Kreuk was born in VancouverBritish Columbia.

      Her father, Peter Kreuk, is of Dutch descent; 
      her mother, Deanna Che, is of Chinese 
      descent, but was born in Indonesia;
      and her maternal grandmother was
      born in Jamaica ofChinese descent.


       

      Both parents are landscapearchitects. 
      She has a sister named Justine,
      who is about five years younger.

      Kreuk trained in karate and gymnastics atthe national level 
      until highschool but quit in Grade 11 due to scoliosis.

      Kreuk planned tostudy psychologyenvironmentalscience, 
      orforensic science at Simon Fraser University, when 
      a casting director for the CBC TV series Edgemont 
      cast her in the role of Laurel Yeung, on theshow.

      Aftershooting the first season of Edgemont 
      (a teenage soap opera set at aVancouver-area 
      high school) and getting herselfan agent,  Kreuk 
      landed the lead role of SnowWhite in a TV 
      movie titled Snow White: The Fairest of Them All. 


      After Snow White, Kreuk's agent sent an audition tape
      to screenwriters Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who
      at the time were putting together the castof a show
      they had created for theWBNetwork entitled Smallville


      The series, which was slated to be shot in Vancouver ,
      revolves around the life ofteenager Clark Kent 
      before he becomes Superman. 

      Gough and Millar called Kreuk to WB's studios
      in Burbank, California toaudition for the role
      of Clark Kent's first love, Lana Lang. 

       

      After seven seasons, Kreuk left Smallville in the 
      beginning of 2008, when hercharacter leaves town. 
      She returned as a guest star in the show's eighth 
      season for five episodes to conclude her storyline.
