and yet this is the perfect electric drive system for a bicycle. Definitely looks like an ideal system for me. Weighs under 5 pounds, is not too obvious, can activate it when I'm doing a slog back home.

I had not heard of it. Interesting development. IMO the motor may be concealed but the battery pack and activating switch would be harder to conceal. In the pro ranks finding something like that on a bike would probably lead to the whole team being thrown out of an event and possible large fines and penalties for team management. The adverse publicity would not make sponsors too happy either.
In club racing why would anyone want trophies they cheated to get? Seems dumb to me but then cheating always has.
