It appears that, in time for the very last day to submit responses to
the Board's document, a public announcement has been made that the
Chairman of Publications Committee resigned yesterday:

      "Wednesday, February 28, 2007
The Chairman is on holiday in Germany,

I am thus posting the following announcement for the nformation of
      all members.

Today, members of the Council and Board each received a letter from
Geoff Bennet, Director of Publications, informing us of his immediate
      resignation.

Geoff feels that he is unable to work within the current environment
of Guild management and has given his reasoning for this.

Geoff's expertise will be missed, and we thank him for the excellent
work he has done over the last four years.

The Board regrets the resignation of any director, especially one
with specialist skills, and will be discussing the matter very
      shortly.

The Guild is fortunate to have these talents within its ranks and the
Board will act promptly and correctly to remedy the situation.

With regard to the Guild Review that Geoff Bennet has been
coordinating, may we assure you member's responses will still be
      given the fullest consideration.

Thank you for your continued support.

      Derek Mundy
      President"

        Bewildered,

          All,

Wouldn't it be a pleasant surprise if our Board of Management stated
what the problems were that caused both Raymond Berry and Geoff
          Bennett to resign their posts.

At least it would put a stop to rumour and innuendo and it would also
send a message to the Guild membership as a whole that they are an
integral part of the jigsaw who will be treated as mature adults and
          kept in the loop .

          Optimistically,

          Dave Sweetland.

          SNIPPED.

            1. It sounds like they've already got a replacement lined up

            2. Pedantically, I suspect they'll select a 'pro' individual for
(singular) "... member's responses will still be given the fullest
            consideration"

Last Saturday I e-mailed a copy of my response to the new secretary,
requesting a read receipt. So far nothing...:-(
