      Kat,

I have not heard from Nick Karas in about five years. He used to post on my Rusyns group a lot....now nothing.

I hope that he is OK.

There is another Rusyns group which Nick posted on. I don't get involved with that group.

Thanks Lavrentiy! Have you heard from or of Nick lately? It's like he disappeared without a trace. Another person who I have been corresponding with used to get letters regularly and has not received an email in a couple years. I was thinking of writing his publisher. If I can't make the connection I guess I will have to call good and tell my story to kids the way I see it. I have quite a bit of information I will use that. Thank You again! Kathy

I do not know anything about his your your ancestors. There was a fire at the Pine Hill church about 10 years ago. I do not know the status of parish books.

I read the book "Hunky". I am now in the process of analyzing it but not reading it. I was given new information about my GGrandmother "Bubba" as everyone called her. Her name was Anastasia "Nancy" Antonishak. In reading the book I find that Nick Karas' GGrandmother was also an Antonishak. I have complelling evidence that somehow Kateryna and my GGrandma Nancy are either sisters which I believe or Kateryna is her Aunt. Nancy's Father was Paul Antonishak. Now in my compelling evidence it is mentioned two different times from two different persons in my family who have passed that the "Nider family of Sommerset County, were Nancy's sister's children". That quote was from my Grand Aunt Julie. My Grandma Ann and her were sisters and they were Nancy's Children, the ones that were born here in the US. Nancy is supposed to have 3 other sisters who bore each one illegitimate son. Michael, Nick, and Louis. Why I am telling you this is that I have proof of my story albeit circumstantial but none the less very interesting. As I was going back through the book I was reading the acknowledgements and came across Laurance Krupnak. Now here is my question Laurance do you have of know of any information that I can connect these two families with? I have tried several times to get a hold of Nick Karas through email to no avail. Also one thing that also came to mind was the fact that the main subject of the book didn't come over on the Patricia with all men. He brought over my grandma's sister in 1903, her name was Maria Kopanyszyn. Someone has the answer it's just too much of a coincidence for all this to be random. I have some more compelling evidence but I thought these were my strongest points. If there is any way I can connect my two families please lead me in the right direction. Thank you very much for your time. Kathy

There was a fire in the Pine Hill church in ca. 2002. I hope the icon is ok.

I have looked through all the cemeteries in Somerset County that would be relevant.

In Sts. Peter and Paul in Pine Hill or in the church in Central City?
