Re: [GSNNJSUMS] Older Girl Event - Bowling
- Susan,I will present the opportunity at the Morristown SU meeting on Sept.14th and let you know the interest level. Thanks or organizing.Lisa KellyOn Mon, Aug 31, 2009 at 12:48 PM, Susan Steinberg <normandsusan@...> wrote:I think I came up with a neat idea for girls in 7th through 12th grades. I want to know what you think. The bowling alley in Boonton is conveniently located right off Rte 287. They offer late night bowling from 11PM-2AM on Friday and Saturday nights. The cost is $12. I believe we could put together a program for the older girls for $20 to include 3 hours of bowling (and they can turn on lazer lights), shoe rental, pretzels (or similar) and soda. Plus we can arrange for alley tours and bowling-form lessons so the girls could complete most of the requirements for the Bowling IPA offered by GSCSNJ. The snack bar would be open so the girls can bring money and order whatever else they want.Because of sports programs, I'm thinking a Saturday night. Do you think the girls in your SU might be interested? Please reply to the group. If you personally might be interested in helping to coordinate this, please hit forward, type in (copy) normandsusan@... and reply to me directly.

- If we did another time (maybe a different evening or a Sunday afternoon), I bet we could get the price down - instead of trying to take over one of his "regular" nights.
I think the capacity is about 140 at that lane - so the event might fill fast. (We ran into this running a "me & my guy" event there - 70 couples is not very many, of course this will will have a much lower adult:girl ratio.)
At least some of the girls in my SU would be interested. Our next SU meeting is 9/24 since we had a drop-in for questions, paperwork & picking up the LINK on 8/27, but I can reach all the leaders by e-mail. (When the OG troops meet & whether they can pass flyers to all their girls electronically is a separate issue.)
- we run a town (rockaway) bowling event every year-a father daughter laser bowling. last year the rockaway lanes were so expensive that we moved to boonton. the price was much better and they ran a wonderful evening. i am sure if this works out everyone will be more than pleased.

I already sent an email out to the leader who coordinated the older girl laser bowling outing for my community. Once I hear back from her with helpful suggestions, I will most definitely pass them along to you.
Talk soon, Cheryl
