Group Description

Membership in GPDAks requires membership in the Great Plains Dulcimer Alliance (GPDA) in Wichita, Ks. The annual membership fee is $12.00.
GPDA meets at the New Hope Christian Church,1400 S George Washington Drive, Wichita, KS on the second Saturday of each month (except Jan., Sept. and Dec.), and jams at the Woodlawn Methodist Church (Derby, Ks) every Tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:00.

The Great Plains Dulcimer Alliance is a nonprofit organization founded in 1982 in Wichita, Kansas. The focus of the club is to learn and teach folks how to play Traditional folk music on Hammered and Mountain Dulcimers. Other acoustic instruments are welcome as well. We have monthly meetings with free workshops and offer special workshops, concerts and performance opportunities. Membership is open to all age groups interested in learning to play Hammered or Mountain Dulcimer or any other acoustic instrument in a Traditional Folk music environment. All are invited to bring your acoustic instrument and join us.

Our purpose is to stimulate and perpetuate an interest in the Hammered and Mountian Dulcimer and other acoustic instruments.

To promote and advance the art and enjoyment of Hammered and Mountain Dulcimers and other acoustic instruments, Folk and Traditional Music.

To educate and provide services related to Hammered and Mountain Dulcimers and other acoustic instruments.

To foster the preservation and enjoyment of Folk and Traditional music.
