      Hello:
Just a point to consider before you purchase that new repeater off
      the Internet.
Some manufactures restrict the areas that dealers can sell their
equipment. You will notice this when you go to a dealer's web site and
it says that they are limited to selling "Brand V" to a certain area.
To get around this, some dealers advertise on the Internet that they
are selling that brand of repeater, stating it was from a customer who
canceled their order. Since it is theoretically not "ordered new for
you" they can tell the manufacturer that it is used. An interesting
point is that you can see that they just got it in their stock a few
days ago and the UPS shipping label from the distributor on the West
Coast is still on the box. A quick check on the UPS site of the
tracking number shows that it was shipped to the dealer after the
      E-Bay ad.
How does this affect you? WARRANTY. These repeaters are sold
"AS-IS". The Internet dealer does not perform warranty service. If you
have trouble in the warranty period, "Brand V" manufacturer will tell
you to contact the dealer you brought it from. Local dealers of "Brand
V" will be hesitant to, or may not, service something you did not buy
      from them.
Before you buy off the Internet site, be sure that you get, IN
WRITING, a commitment that the selling dealer will service the
repeater while under warranty. Don't believe them when they tell you
that "Any" authorized dealer will service it. If you get that
statement, demand them to produce a letter guaranteeing it.
You may be surprised to find out that your local "Brand V" dealer
will match or come very close to the Internet dealer price.
A lesson I learned from personal experience. -$
      Cheers,
      Eric
