  • It is with great sadness that I write to tell you my brother died last week. As it turned out, he had lung cancer which had already spread to his bones and his liver. My mom and I went to North Carolina to take him to his first oncology appointment. The doctor told him there was nothing he could do for him, the cancer was far too advanced. David died that night. Just a small soap...

  • I want to thank you all for your encouraging emails and offers of prayers. This group is fantastic and I am so grateful for it. I've been on this list since about 2000 when it was a small and very vocal group. I'm so glad I continue to be a member because now, with my brother's liver cancer, I have people who understand and are knowledgeable in what is going on in my life. I got a...

  • Gail, I'm so happy that you continue in remission and are feeling well. I did speak with my brother's doctor's nurse yesterday. I will fly down to North Carolina to be with him for his first visit to the oncologist so that I can pay attention and take notes and he doesn't have to. I will keep you all posted. My mom and sister are flying down there this weekend to be with him. Thank...

  • Anne, Thank you for your prayers and hugs. I was able to speak with my brother's doctor in Wilmington, NC. The CT scan showed cancer in my brothers liver, lung, spine and shoulder. It doesn't look good. They are going to do a biopsy of his shoulder on Tuesday. The largest "spot" is on his shoulder. The resulting chemo and possibly radiation will be very expensive and because he has...

  • Hi, I've been quiet a long time, now I need some help. My brother, a recovering 30-year alcoholic just called from his home in North Carolina. He has been going through many, many tests: colonoscopy, endocscopy, and most recently, a ct of the liver trying to find out why he is losing weight and having so much pain in his shoulders and hips. We knew his liver was enlarged, and were...

  • Hi Alley, Good to hear you are doing (relatively) good. I still think of the "early" group in this list. You and Willim are two of them. Along with Claudia and Claudine. A lot has transpired, good and bad. After 4 years, I remain virus-free!!!!! Had a viral count done last week and just got the results an hour ago. The spot they found on my liver a few years ago hasn't grown and in...

  • Willem, I hope you do find Tat. She has certainly helped us over the years, and has faced many troubles of her own. If you connect with her, tell her we all miss her and what can we do to help? • Hi Anne, I'm in the Chicago area and working with Medicare and Health Insurance claims, death benefits, bill paying and checkbook balancing. Don't let anyone fool you into believing that the new Medicare Part D Prescription program is a good one. It has a lot of flaws but should work for the very poor and very ill. This is only MY opinion. It continues to amaze me that the most...
