      Hepatic Steatosis Is Associated with Fibrosis, Nucleoside Analogue Use, and Hepatitis C Virus Genotype 3 Infection in HIV-Seropositive Patients: Steatosis was present in 69% of patients - (06/29/06)
      "....Steatosis was present in 69% of patients....Factors associated with steatosis included use of dideoxynucleoside analogues, such as didanosine and stavudine...presence of steatosis was associated with fibrosis..steatosis is multifactorial in nature and may play a contributory role in the progression of liver disease in HIV-infected patients..."

As a result of increases in the prevalences of obesity, insulin resistance, and hyperlipidemia, the number of people with hepatic steatosis continues to expand....the presence of steatosis can accelerate disease progression.."
