Group Description

Welcome to the Grays Harbor Chapter of Back Country Horsemen of Washington's members-only Yahoo Group.

Grays Harbor Chapter members live in all areas in and around Grays Harbor: northwest to Quinault, south to Raymond, east to Shelton, Olympia, Rainier & Rochester.

Our meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month and start at 7 pm. We typically meet at the Satsop Fire Department, with a social half hour before hand. We do not have a December meeting and in the summer we may meet elsewhere to tie in a trail ride.

We are very involved in working with the Olympic National Forest out of the Quinault Ranger Station. For the last couple of years Grays Harbor and a couple of other BCHW Chapters have had a Memorandum of Understanding with the USFS for the adoption of the West Fork of the Humptulips Trail (WFT), which is located inland from Humptulips and Quinault. A true rain forest area, the WFT crosses the West Fork of the Humptulips over 20 times in it's 17 miles long. Plans are in the works for a camping area and loop trails to the river and WFT. In 2008 the GH Chapter members put in over 800 hours of volunteer labor on the WFT. We also work on private timber lands and in Capitol Forest.

To join BCHW & the Grays Harbor Chapter email Secretary JoAnn Yost at joanny540@aol.com or call her at 360-482-3257.We invite other current BCHW members to join us, our annual dues are only $10 per year. To become an Independent member of BCHW or to find other Chapters in your area go to www.bchw.org for info or an application.
