Not sure if anyone may have noticed, but that there has been no 'Computer
Corner' column in the GEO Quarterly since September 2011.
Can I just confirm to members that having written the column, and its RIG
predecessor, since June 2002, I have decided to stop and allow more time to
      pursue other interests.
I will be continuing to run my Weather-Satellite-Reports group including my
own Monday report and helping to moderate other Yahoo specialist groups as I
      do at the moment.
I will still be actively pursuing my Eumetcast reception and available for
helplines as listed in the GEO journal.

My thanks to those who have taken an interest in the column over the years.

      Best regards,
      Douglas.

          Douglas,

I second Fred's sentiments! You have been a tremendous help through the many years especially with the Weather-Satellite-Reports. That is the definitive complete source for weather satellite status and I see it referred to in many emails when there is a question about a satellite still transmitting. Thank you very much for your dedication and hard work.

          Ed

            Douglas,

May I, on behalf of GEO Management, add a big thank-you for all the work you have put into 'Computer Corner' over the years. I'm sure readers found it a most valuable service, specially during the formative years when optimising a PC system for EUMETCast was proving to be a major problem for many. And I'm delighted that you will continue the Satellite Reports Group, which is a unique and valued resource.

And, of course, any member who may in future feel they have some computer-related material of value to the membership as a whole, will be most welcome to send the editor a specific one-off article.

            Les
