RE: [GBrown-L] Last night, Minneapolis
- View SourceThanks, Laura! Nice to wake up to a great review.
Really nice set list. And I think Greg gets in an
extra-good mood when he gets to hang out with friends
like Bo, Vicki & Joe before a show. And he certainly
carries that mood into his performance.
Glad that you got that special glow and hope it lasts
for a good while ......

Wow! Just so ON last night. I so I wish I were in Winona
tonight, but I couldn't talk my partner into two nights in row.
We arrived late for Joe and Vicki Price's set, I am sorry to say,
due to parking and waiting on some excellent Thai food. Got there
in time to hear the Iowa Crawl finale. Luckily, Joe and Vicki are
locals for us and we can see them occasionally. They were having
a good time (Joe's famous line, "Is everyone having a GOOD
time?") They were hot!
Greg and Bo came out and started right in. The sound was so
incredibly good. Greg's voice so resonant, Bo's guitar clear as
a bell. Bo was dressed as always in cowboy hat, dark, possibly
mismatched suit, black shirt, standing and dipping and groovin'.
Greg sat wearing overalls which accentuated his "Fat Boy Blues" a
bit. And of course, some goofy bucket hat. Joe Price always
wears a goofy hat too. I once said to Vicki, I believe he is
trying to outdo Greg Brown with that hat, and she claimed Joe got
Greg going on the search for the tackiest hats at some thrift
store long ago. The set list is amazing!
1. Sleeper (such a treat for me)
2. Billy From the Hills
3. Freak Flag
4.The Cheapest Kind
5. Fat Boy Blues
6. Small Dark Movie
7. Evening Call (with a funky blues feel)
9. If I Had Known
12. Now That I'm My Grandpa
13. Where You Going When You're Gone
14. Ina Bell Sale (starting with JESUS RADIO ALWAYS COMES IN
15. One Wrong Turn
16. That new song in falsetto, Becham's Bokerie
17. Out in the Country
Wow! He had the audience. And Bo, what can I say, just
perfect? Their synergy is incredible. Greg dedicated the show
to Tom Tucker, said he probably was thinking they had too much
bass or something. I left the Cedar Cultural Center with that
feel-great glow. I so hope there is a recording available
