G6PD or Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase is an inherited genetic defect that affects mainly men (in rare cases women can also be affected) and can cause hemolytic anemia.
By avoiding common drugs such as Aspirin, Tylenol, and Sulfa as well as Vitamin C, those with the disease can lead a normal life. G6PD affects approximately 10% of the population.
