Last Sat. 5/12/01, I caught a small portion of the T.V. show
Traveling with Harry on the Arts & Entertainment channel of the cable
tv network, they were showing a interview with a armorer collector in
Indiana. I will be traveling from Iowa to Ohio for a graduation
program over the Memorial Day Wweek-end. Would like to find the owner
of this collection, to see if I can get a tour of his collection.
Please let me know of any information any one has

I recently had the pleasure to visit Mr. Ropkey and his family. His collection is outstanding and he is a great American and a true gentelman in every sense of the word. He has half a dozen Shermans including the one used in the movie "Tank". He also has Priest, Stuarts, Marmon Harrington, Locust, Patton, Pershing, Half Tracks etc......

I would suggest that you call in advance as he is a self employed businessman and appears to have a busy schedule. His right hand man Skip who helps him run the Museum and oversees restoration and maintence is a great guy also. I'm sure if you get to visit their operation you will impressed.

Thank you for your reply to my question on the Sherman tanks in Indiana.
I did contact Fred Ropkey by E-Mail, He then called me back as we were
heading out the door last Thursday, on our trip to Ohio from Iowa.. He gave
me the directions to his place. Which were very percise, for I don't care to
drive in alot in city traffic. I met with his 3 mechanics and toke alot of
photos, which reminds me to pick up today from the drug store. I was very
impressed with collection and how friendly his employees were to speak with,
and help-full answering questions. A REAL SHOW PLACE. Thanks again.
