    Message 1 of 1 , Dec 4, 2013
      1 Corinthians 13
      Hebrews 11

"And without faith it is impossible to please him.  For whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him (Hebrews 11:6)."

During my brief stint with the IRS, I was working hard at filing paperwork quickly, and an older worker told me to slow down, "I'd work myself out of a job."
Sadly, this is the exact philosophy that weakens the economy and causes our tax returns to be delayed, in turn which causes debts to go unpaid.  But nobody wants to speak up and say it.  There's no real incentive to do your job fast and well, so it isn't done.  The nationalized healthcare system will probably end up suffering from the same problem.
While contemplating this, I began thinking about the flaws of Communism, such as how the system takes away the ambition to do a good job, because people get the same regardless of what they do.  A lot of times they had to be threatened at gunpoint before they did any sort of quality work, and even then they probably threw a few monkey wrenches into the gears out of revenge.
Now, Communism is allegedly inspired by the teachings of Jesus.  However, the author of the whole system left God out of the equation, and it shows.
He wanted the charity of Christ without the faith of Christ.  That is something that will never work.  Why?  Because nobody is going to toil away slavishly on anything for little or no money unless they are seeking a higher reward.  If they had truly understood, they would have allowed the "masses" to have more "opiate".
Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith it is impossible to please God.  This is expecially apparent when you look at people who try to be moral without God.  They are left with a hollow philosophy and shoddy results.  There is no real ambition behind their so-called service, so their impact is minimal.
Corinthians 13 says if we do great things but have not love, we are just making meaningless noise.
Communism and systems like it show no real love, only forcing people to grudgingly share what they would not and have no desire to.  They have no transformation of the heart, so it only breeds resentment, rebellion, and slouching like that IRS lady.  You can't force a person to behave like Jesus.  They can only be led that way by genuine faith.
Only through faith can we find that strong motivation that leads us to do great things without payment or reward, for God's kingdom.

Dear Father in heaven, lead me in faith, and give me the joy and the eagerness to serve you to the best of my abilities.  Help me to be satisfied with your approval and acceptance, but also give me the motivation to become the best servant I can possibly be.  In Jesus' name I pray.  Amen.
