      Matthew 7:13-29, Colossians 2
      Proverbs 14:12

"Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many (Matthew 7:13)."

When I was little, my grandma drove me places in her Honda Civic, and she didn't know how to use a stick shift. For several days, I'd watch her just sort of wiggle the stick around in the gear box and shove it into drive, invariably causing an unpleasant grinding sound, but I assumed she knew what she was doing.
I kept thinking, grandma, why don't you move that stick into the 1, 2 and 3 positions before moving it over to drive? But I either never said anything, or she told me flat out that this was how you were supposed to drive the car.
When I got older, I found out she knew her repairman on a first name basis, and the car was over there being worked on just about every other week. It turned out she was just going through the motions and making a show of knowing how to drive a stick. She had it down to a science.
The other religions of the world are like this. Buddhists really don't know what they're doing, but they've been doing the wrong things for so many centuries that it looks like they know what they're doing. Like grandma's car, everything on the surface looks good, the Buddhists seem to be peaceful, healthy and wise, but if you "check under the hood", there's an astounding amount of damage being done to their souls, because they really don't know what they're doing. How can you not cause damage when your answer to the meaning of life is not to think?
And they're not the only religion that covers wrongness in century old tradition. There are cults, there is Islam, and scores of other things.
Jesus says that the path is wide that leads to destruction. Considering how many Hindus and Moslems and non-Christian Jews there are in the world, the path must be wider than a football field. But even so, it doesn't mean it's a good idea to go that way.
Unless you take the higher, narrower road, you'll be facing something far worse than involuntarily paying a repairman's kids through college.

Dear Father in heaven, help me to seek that higher narrow path in Jesus, and shun all other worldly paths that lead to destruction. I pray this in the name of your Son Jesus. Amen.
