      Matthew 11:16-19, Col 2:8-23, Jude 1:8-16
      2 Tim 1:13-15, 3:1-9. 12-17, 4:1-5

"For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, `He has a demon'; and the Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, `Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds(Matthew 11:18-19."

My job requires me to do certain things to meet federal legal requirements. I simply must verify a customer's first and last name before disclosing the fact that I'm calling about their Walmart card. If I tell someone I'm calling from the third party collections agency, I can't call them again for eight days, so I withhold that information until I can actually speak to the customer I'm looking for.
But people always make me look like I'm the wrong one. They know just what to say to make me seem like some bad guy, some criminal, some rude, unprofessional person who doesn't know anything about manners. They always put me in the hot seat, despite the fact I'm only doing my job.
People do this to Christians all the time. They can twist your words and behavior to sound like you're in the wrong and they're right. A common favorite of theirs is "I'm glad God isn't like that." You're suddenly a Nazi if you say that Jesus is the only way to heaven. You're called a Nazi if you say homosexuality is a sin.
Like that "nice gentleman" who tells a complete stranger that John Smith owes Walmart $5000, we Christians are expected to be "loving and respectful" by only telling people things that make them happy and feel good about themselves and their sin or unbelief. But like that "gentleman", you'd be wrong if you did that.
At work, I learned to keep things in perspective. I don't have to deal with John Smith every day, but I do have to face my boss every day. At the end of the day, what people thought about you doesn't matter. What matters is whether or not you did your job. We need to do the same with our faith walk, and focus not on pleasing temporary (mortal) unbelievers, but our eternal God. We can either let unbelievers and fake Christians browbeat us into compromising the truth, or we can boldly sit down in the hot seat, knowing the true heat is on their end.

Dear Father in heaven, please don't let the criticism and accusations of the deceived ruin my Christian witness. Help me to share your truth boldly with others, even if it means being labeled an evil or misguided person. Help me to focus on the job you called me to do, so that false accusations do not bother me. I pray this in your Son's holy name. Amen.
