Re: [Friesland-genealogy] Hovinga line from Amsterdam, originally from Friesland

Subject: RE: [Friesland-genealogy] Hovinga line from Amsterdam, originally from Friesland
Margaret,Among the “huwelijksbijlagen” (marital supplements) of the 1893 Amsterdam marriage certificate there is a “akte van bekendheid” (could be translated as “deed of acknowledgment”), in which Martin Hovinga states that he was born in Jemgum (Leer, Oost-Friesland) on 27 March 1852 and that he doesn’t know the names of his parents. Although he has written several letters to Jemgum authorities he has not been able to obtain a birth certificate and therefore this deed of acknowledgement has been drawn up in which 4 of Martin’s acquaintances state that all Martin has previously declared (w.r.t. his birth) is the truth. So it might be quite hard to find Martin’s ancestors…Kind regards,Nynke van den HoovenThank you. I had also found the family on Ancestry.com but the Tree had been removed.
