Group Description

The Friends of the Everett Waterfront is a new group of concerned citizens dedicated to the revitalization and recovery of the Everett Waterfront. Our mission is to re-discover our waterfront heritage and promote the current and future use of our 3.5 miles of Rivers.

About our Waterfront…
The Everett Waterfront consists of 3.5 miles of river. Each river has unique characteristics, problems and potential.

Malden River:
Separating Everett from Malden and Medford, the Malden River has a history of industrial use. The river now is overgrown with vegetation and the Army Corp of Engineers is conducting a study to restore the habitat and clean up the contaminated bottom sediments. There is great potential for this river. A potential that can include Canoe and Kayak Clubs, Youth Sailing Programs and much more. Telecomm City (coming soon) will create a "clean" business community that will benefit the river and the cities involved.

Mystic River: Most of Everett’s Mystic River is designated for Industrial Waterfront Use. A portion remains available for development and plans are underway to create a new neighborhood there that includes a marina!

Island End River:
Separating Everett from Chelsea the IER has one of the worst pollution problems in the state. But the responsible parties have been identified and are now working to clean up the coal tar that seeps into river.
