Group Description

Friends of the Colo is a Landcare Group formed in Sydney Australia in 2000 to assist the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and other Colo River catchment landowners in eradicating introduced species (Willows and others) from the World Heritage Wollemi Wilderness and the land that surrounds.

Having since eradicated many thousands of willows, most of the group's activities are now designed to control remaining vestiges of the weeds cape ivy, tree of heaven and honey locust.

The group has about 12 activities each year, varying from a weekend to a week in duration. Most activities are in remote and trackless parts of the Wollemi Wilderness, so they are suitable only for experienced bushwalkers or packrafters.

If you are interested in participating in our work or obtaining more information about the group please ask to subscribe to the group, giving your name and a brief indication of any bushwalking or bush regeneration experience.
