Group Description

Freecycle on the Big Island, Hawaii

E Komo Mai (welcome) to the Freecycle on the Big Island site. We are an independently run group serving our island community and manned by LOCAL moderators

Freecycle is a recycling group, whose main mission is to keep usable items out of the landfill. It is not a charity, an online shopping service, or a wish list.

The concept of Freecycle is simple. You have something you no longer need and you wish to "recycle" it rather than throw it into the trash where eventually it will go to clutter our shrinking landfills. You can post items to give away, or make a request for wanted items, but the bottom line is that it has to be FREE!

1) As soon as you sign up, you will receive an email with a short questionnaire that you MUST reply to before being accepted!

2) We may generate many posts per day. You may opt to sign up for a "digest" version (one daily email with all posts) You may also opt to read posts at the site (Special Notices)

3) You MUST format your posts in a specific manner BEFORE attempting to post. (info provided in welcome email)

4) No swaps. No trades. No barter. No selling. No borrowing. No strings. No services. Please keep it FREE, Legal and Age Appropriate

5) New members are on "moderation", posts are not automatically sent to the group, but reviewed for correct format and appropriateness. Failure to attempt to format your posts correctly or spamming our group may result in being removed

6) Since our group is email based, you MUST sign up with a valid email address and MUST choose at least the Special Notices option (only administrative emails will be sent to you)
