      Energy Efficiency Intern Job Description

      Founded in 1915, BOMA Portland is a professional trade association dedicated to furthering the needs of members in the commercial real estate industry through education, legislation and networking. BOMA Portland helps its members â€" building owners, developers, and property managers - increase earnings by improving efficiency in every aspect of their business. BOMA Portland represents over 200 buildings in Oregon and Southwest Washington. As part of its efforts to promote high-performance, sustainable, and “green” buildings, BOMA Portland in partnership with the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) is seeking a motivated student to serve as an Energy Efficiency Intern for the summer of 2009. This position will aid BOMA Portland members in benchmarking energy consumption in their buildings.

      RESPONSIBILITIES - Assist building staff with energy performance benchmarking using the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager system. - Work with tenants, utilities, and building staff to gather energy meter data. - Collect, track, and vet key data inputs - generating an initial energy performance rating for each building. - Assist property managers and building engineers with account setup and eventual ongoing maintenance. - Support activities associated with the BOMA Portland Office Energy Showdown as directed.

      DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Current student in business, engineering, environmental management, public policy, or related field. - Excellent written and oral communication skills and a customer service mindset. - Enthusiasm for green buildings, and an entrepreneurial spirit â€" must be able to take initiative with little direction. - Analytical skills and the ability to diagnose problems and spot check data accuracy. - Quick learner, with the ability to hit the ground running, quickly become expert in the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager system, and understand the dynamics of owning and managing a commercial office building. - Solid computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office software as well as internet search engines and databases. -

      REQUIRED - ability to attend the BOMA Portland ENERGY STAR Benchmarking workshop on May 15th.
