MacGillivray's at Tree Tops (Broward) - YES
- Just a quick update for those thinking of traveling
for the female MacGillivray's Warbler at Tree Tops
County Park in Broward. The bird is still present in
the same area as previously reported. On Sunday 30th,
between 10.45am and 11.30am it was feeding in the
brush piles on the left as you enter the clearing.
On one occasion it ventured into the bordering
vegetation 6 feet off the ground, giving excellent
views. To locate the MacGillivray's listen for it's
distinctive, repeated "tsik" call (sharper than that
of Common Yellowthroat and likened to a twig
snapping). Pishing appears to be counter productive
with the bird going silent for very long periods. So
patience is the name of the game!
Common Yellowthroats, Indigo and Painted Buntings
are in the same area.
