Issue with Comcast wanting more money.

Same thing happened with Versus last year but it came back after a few months of negotiating.

Yeah, AOTS's Kevin Pereira brought this up the other day, apparently they think G4 is "not worth keeping on air because they lack importance". I guess because G4 lacks useless reality shows.

Luckily for me, I don't have DirecTV.

In a statement on its Web site, G4 says it "has done everything in our power" to make a deal to keep the network on DirecTV. "This is especially frustrating since our offer to them was the same basic deal that we've had with DirecTV for the past three years."

A spokesman for DirecTV said it is no longer negotiating and has no plans to return G4 to its subscribers at this time. "We are constantly evaluating our lineup in a new world where programming costs continue to rise at significant rates. Since G4 is among the lowest rated networks based on the latest Nielsen data, we decided that it made sense to focus on preserving programming that is more relevant to our larger customer base," the spokesman said."

G4 has sucked for a while so it wouldnt be a big deal to me.........if I actually had Direct TV.

I seriously miss when G4 was exclusively the technology channel.

And if DirecTV drops it, I'm pretty sure the writing is on the wall for the channel altogether.

I'm indifferent to it, as I liked my CHEAT! and other studio programs back in the early days :)

For a minute I thought G4 turned itself around and became a quality network again. Thankfully, it still sucks. I haven't watched it in years.

DirecTV's right, though, G4 ISN'T important. The fact that it is constantly one of the lowest viewed channels on American television supports this.

At this point they might as well move X-Play and AotS to Spike and just can the channel altogether.

I remember G4 was amazing with Cinematech and everything but right when the G4 Awards started, it was all downhill. They brought this on themselves, G4 screwed G4.

All I watched was Unbeatable Banzuke and Web Soup. AOTS was only good when Munn, Haislip, or Anna David was on.

True, but, and this is possibly the saddest thing in this whole situation, Spike is more of a channel for gamers than G4 is. I mean, think about it, they both have just one video game dedicated show(X-Play vs. GameTrailersTV), but while X-Play is basically a typical video game site/blog put into 30 minute video form, GTTV actually get breaking game announcements, like they reveal new games and exclusive gameplay videos and stuff, things X-Play doesn't. Both channels have an award show for video games, but Gphoria has morphed into just a 1 hour long episode of X-Play and is essentially a second X-Play Game of the Year Awards episode, except the viewers vote for the winners instead of the G4 staff. Spike has the VGAs, which, ok, sucked big balls the first few years, but it is SLOWLY getting to what a mainstream video game award show should be like. Plus, it is longer, it has more awards to give out, and to top it all off, they announce new games at the VGAs.

Finally, almost every major video game release each year gets its own pre-midnight release episode of GTTV on the night of the midnight release. I can bet you that next week we'll get one of these for Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The ONLY thing G4 has over Spike, video game coverage wise, is their E3 coverage, and even then, MS had their main E3 press conference exclusively on Spike(and the web), not G4. So that means G4 is also slowly losing its own trump card over Spike.

Without their E3 coverage, G4 is f***ed, absolutely f***ed.

I loved AOTS,Ninja Warrior,X-Play when I could catch it,Web Soup,and the occasional Campus PD.

Channel was a fruequent of mine,but I do miss the old G4
