      Damn Updates:

From Dimondale - 2 portages in Lansing

"Winkin - Blinkin - Nod" / The smokestack dam takeout near Moores River Drive

The takeout is in fine shape - Marked and easy on river right with no changes
The portage is longer due to reconstruction of the damn gates
All water is being directed through one gate, creating a hydraulic wave rolling at river scale 3.25 with significant waves and eddies at the normal put in and those rocks in the river becoming a bit dicey for launching
Recommendation is go 40 yards further downstream to the iron dock directly across from the smokestacks at the "canoe portage" sign

Note; Confluence of Red Cedar is calm - barely a ripple

North Lansing - Old Town / Brehnke Fish Ladder
The takeout on river right is clear, no problem.
The put in is open and with water receding it should pose no unusual challenge other than the normal engineering problem the city created by not building it the way Charlie Parmelee told them to.  Water is just below the railings - so it should be solid level footing on the deck and then by simply bending your canoe in half, you can get through the gate and be clear.

It is expected that Woodruff Landing, and Kruger Base Camp are clear - the dock at Base Camp was pretty shaky last year, it should not be trusted.  I will visit those two locations on Wednesday and do not expect a need to file an update.  The orange flags at Jim Woodruff's will be easy to spot.

The island downstream of Jim & Jenny's was completely submerged - the takeout at Delta Mills is reachable and the water was 6' from the parking lot.  This should all be reducing over the next 4 days.  It is expected Fitzgerald Park levels will not change significantly but it will be a bit easier than described in the earlier post.
