Subject: [FateRPG] Re: has anyone ever done a shin megami tensei persona

I personally think the spell casting system in DFRPG makes a fairly good comparison to Personas. In the game Personas show up to use their power and then disappear. That sort of one shot casting makes the magic system appropriate. Also the casting system uses Conviction and Discipline to control spell casting which I also feel is appropriate for Personas.

Here is my take on converting Evocation to having a Persona.

I added the Arcana part to the Persona because it is important setting and I feel that other mechanics in a Persona game would support it. The Arcana would probably be related to certain social mechanics and relationships which would also be important in a Persona game.

      Persona [-3]
Having a Persona is generally functionally equivalent to Evocation except without the Item Slots, a different element list, and with elemental strengths and weaknesses.

Your Persona: Give your Persona a couple of aspects to represent it's special talents.

Elemental Power: Choose your Arcana, Inherit element, and Weakness element. Your Persona has access to your Inherit element and two other elements.

Inherit Specialization: You get a power or control bonus in your Inherit element for free.

Strengths and Weaknesses: You have Armor:2 against your Inherit element. You take an additional 2 stress when you suffer damage from your Weakness element.

      Extra Weakness [+0]
Your persona has an extra elemental weakness above the one that you already have. You take an additional 2 stress from that element as well as your original weakness. In return for this weakness you gain an additional specialization of your choice.

If you have Multiple Persona and want to give your Persona's multiple weaknesses consider giving some of your Persona's aspects to represent those additional weaknesses.

      Multiple Persona [-2]
Musts: Have GM permission to be the main character, be completely silent (:p)

You are capable of containing multiple Persona. You can contain four different Persona and they may each have different Arcana, Specializations, or Weaknesses. Create this Persona as normal and you may change which Persona you are using at the beginning of each of your turns. You may use Refinements to be able to contain additional Persona.

      Refinement [-1]
Gain access to a new element or gain two additional specializations. If you have Multiple Persona you may instead gain an additional Persona slot.
