The Fans Of Dan Gable Yahoo group is designed to honor Dan Gable, the all-time great wrestler at Waterloo West High School and Iowa State University... 1972 Olympic gold medalist... former wrestling coach for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes... freestyle Olympic wrestling coach... and goodwill ambassador for the sport of amateur wrestling.



Gable's accomplishments include:

> 64-0 in high school, with three Iowa state titles

> 118-1 in college -- a three-time Big 8 champion, three-time NCAA All-American and two-time NCAA champ

> Gold medal at 149.5 lbs at 1972 Munich Olympics (without giving up a single point!)

> All-time winningest coach at Iowa, with a 355-21-5 record, 21 Big Ten championships and 17 NCAA team titles (including a record 9 straight 1978-86)

> Top Wrestler of the 20th Century (Gannett News Service)

> One of the Top Coaches of the 20th Century (ESPN)

> Iowa's Top Sports Figure of the Past 100 Years

> One of 100 "Golden Olympians"
