      Like those of us that purchase the VX-7 and are waiting for the programming software, it is a shame.

      But I do like my 897 very much, it is kind of a strange bird but I like working it better than my trusty 706.

      I bet there's a ISO Van sitting in the Port of Tacoma waiting for
      the Longshoreman lock-out to end. Seems Yaseu flew some stuff in as
      the "demos". Bottom line, the FT-897 is absolutely worthless to me
      if I can't configure it for my needs. Batteries and internal power
      supply are a start. Otherwise it's the same as my IC-706 with a
      Samlex P/S.

      Hopefully the lag time on the accessories that make the FT-
      897 "different" catch up quickly. However, if it's spotty, I'm not
      going to chase around for them and have all sorts of money tied up
      in gear that I can't take because I'm missing a part.
