My parents told me of this young boy called Gerry who lived just down the
road from them in London who had the most amazing imagination and modeling
skills who was able to carry his skills into his professional life to give
so many people around the world such great memories.

      Paul.

      Hi folks,

please excuse this non-train related post, but I felt that many modellers
will feel a sense of loss at the passing of Gerry Anderson, creative genius
behind the Thunderbirds TV series and several other sci-fi shows.

Thunderbirds was such a great show, with incredibly high modelling standards
evident in the construction of the various rockets, planes, cars and sets.

It was SO COOL, with all the moles and rockets and specialist tools that
could get Timmy out of the well...BUT it was suspenseful, the thunderbirds
always came through right at the very last minute. My two favorite shows for
explosions were Thunderbirds and Addams family (which I also wanted so badly
      to emulate, what kid didn't!)

What gave the show its' zing, apart from the almost continuous action, was
the plausibility of it all. For a kids show it had plenty for adults, but I
have to say that it was one of several factors that got me interested in
building models, and to keep building them.

Thanks Gerry for lots of great memories.
