100 Years Ago Today
- The first interurban trolley trip from Amsterdam to Schenectady
occurred on June 30, 1903. The interurbans started running from
Amsterdam to Johnstown and Gloversville earlier in 1903, but June
30th was considered the opening day of the line. One of the former
Lehigh Valley Traction cars, the so called Yellow Cars, was used to
make the trip as the heavy interurban cars (100 series cars) ordered
from St. Louis were not yet completed.
