One Hundred Years (and Eight Days) Ago
- From the Bob Bedford clipping file:
July 22, 1902 - THE TRIBES HILL VIADUCT - It is quite a sight now to
see the American Bridge Company's force of men at work putting the
steelwork together for the immense viaduct which spans the ravine
east of Tribes Hill for the new Electric Railroad. It is also quite
a sight and makes one shudder a little as they look up 125 feet and
see the masons at work on top of the chimney for the new powerhouse.
This chimney, when completed, will be 170 feet tall. There are but
fewer higher ones in the United States.
