A bad order tag is affixed to each side of a rail car with the defect noted. On a class one railroad it is entered into a computer as a bad oder shop or bad order expedite so it is the computer that actually drives it to the shop. there is no card or tag to release the car other than a manual billing record card or computer billing so that the railroad gets paid for the repair but that does not go on or with the car. The only tag that may go with the car when leaving a car shop may be a home shop for repair, or a defect card claiming responsibility for damage to the car other than those items that must function for the ar to be moved and safety appliances.
