Paul always said that Johnstown was never a big fan of the railroad, this
must fester even 'till today.  One of the Rome Loco Works employees
who worked removing cars from the line said that the Johnstown locals
shouted at the crews when they worked.  He's sure he heard 'good riddance'
      several times...

Yes, its the bridge just north of West State Street.

Two summers ago, they fenced off the bridge
as unsafe. This summer they put a temporary
catwalk across it, which allows access to thin
      people.

The City of Johnstown has lagged far behind
Gloversville on the rail trail project. There
was a stretch between Main and Clinton
which never got paved until this year. The
entrance curbs in Gloversville are tapered
to facilitate bikes and strollers, while the
ones in Johnstown butt-faced and snake bite
your tires. And then there's this bridge
      embarrassment.

A number of people have called the Talk of
The Town show on WENT to complain and
      Johnstown Mayor Slingerland must monitor
that show, because that's the only time
stuff ever gets done. ---Andy Fusco
