I am not sure how many people are having to refer back to the old
FamilySearch (IGI) to see how names are spelled, etc. But I have to do it
quite often because of the patronymics naming in Sweden and Finland. This
is mainly because females were submitted incorrectly; as an example, if a
girl with the name of Helena Persdotter was submitted as Helena Persson, nFS
will not find her. The folks who are working on the program are aware of
this problem and are working on this issue. The search function in nFS is
not as good as the one in the old FamilySearch. I would instruct people who
know that the ordinance work was done but can't find it in nFS to do a look
up in the IGI.
As far as updates for ordinance work is concerned. I was told when I went
through my training that ordinance work done through the Temple Ready
program will show up in both the IGI and nFS. It takes a little longer for
the information to show up in nFS as they have to manually input the data.
However, ordinance work cleared through nFS will never show up in the IGI.
For those waiting for nFS, work to get your personal files cleaned up, look
for duplicate individuals, get your information sourced (this will be very
important in the future).
Hope this helps.
