'tombearden' and 'nut_meg' lists were in violation of TOS
I was not aware of this history. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I
acted recklessly in assuming the three lists that were terminated were of
the same caliber as the two presently being threatened, of whose contents I
Gratefully, the wording in the petition is nebulous enough that the
antecedent of "these lists" can refer to the two just listed that Myron
Evans was demanding be shut down.
I've posted your comment, along with a bunch of others on the subject
(including a nasty email from Myron) at:

Subject: Re: Petition > Protesting Myron Evans' Demand to Shut Down
The reason 'nut_meg' was shut down was because it was only devoted to
slandering Tom Bearden and
anyone associated with him. 'tombearden' was actually a porn list, so it
may or may have been
shut down by Evans (it may just have been shut down for TOS violations). I
don't know the story
behind the others.
Myron Evans is a friend and associate of Bearden who has collaborated with
him on several
papers. I personally wished he had just waited until they had put something
really nasty into
the public record and then sued the pants off them, but I only got called a
crackpot and a Nazi
on that list for being a moderator on meg_builders - Evans actually got his
reputation attacked. I don't blame him for reacting hastily. Anyway, I
really don't think we
have to worry about any list that doesn't break the laws being shut down.
Still got that free
speech thing in the constitution, y'know.
In case anyone is interested in the level, quality and fairness of
discussion amongst those who
frequented those groups (Eric Krieg is one) they are now on sci.skeptic and
the title 'nonsense physics of Tom Bearden'.
