        Electrolysis Breakthrough Makes Energy Storage Affordable - MIT researchers have combined a liquid catalyst with photovoltaic cells to achieve nearly a 100% efficient electrolysis in a simple set-up, which could make solar energy more affordable and practical -- excess capacity during the day could be stored as hydrogen and oxygen, then used in fuel cells at night when needed.         Hydrogen Fuel from food waste: bacteria provide power - Researchers have combined the efforts of two kinds of bacteria to produce hydrogen in a bioreactor with the product from one providing food for the other. Microbiology Today (PDF) reports an added bonus: leftover enzymes can be used to scavenge precious metals from spent automotive catalysts to help make fuel cells that convert hydrogen into energy.         TH!NK City Debuts in UK - The TH!NK City electric two-seater urban car has a top speed of 65 mph and a range of 126 miles. Charging the batteries from 20% capacity to 80% takes four hours.
